By Maki Thomas Livesay
Format:Kindle Edition

A collection of chapters that takes you on a journey through life, travel, medicine, and experiences. Just like talking with a friend who happens to be an accomplished medical doctor. There is something for everyone to be able to relate to. Thank you so much for such a wonderful read! With the stresses of daily life (and who doesn't have them), ending on a note about tolerance and patience was exactly what I needed!

5 stars A Medical Guide for Women of All Ages and All Background
May 12, 2012
By S. Thomas
Format:Paperback

My daughter gave me this book to commemorate my retirement. Having been in good health, I seldom made close contact with doctors, except annual check-up. I put aside medical issues as too complicated a subject for an ordinary woman like me. I was happily surprised finding Dr. Mark, a well-trained and highly respected physician, writing about women's health in a very friendly tone, her genuine warmth dotted with humor on various topics as if she was having conversation with us in a room. How could I refuse the book started with Hair Dye and the Killer Bra (Chapter Two)?

With my recent trip to Berlin, Germany where I visited the Holocaust Memorial, it is moving to read about her father (Chapter Eight), a Holocaust survivor, who was 'always trying to see the good in others.' She expands the subject to spirituality, faith and healing with the explanation of mind/body connection.

Chapters cover sex/gender-based health, pandemics, medical myth to (female) veteran's health and medical issues while mixing stories of her own personal and professional experiences, all the while keeping the today's social and political environment in the background. The book made me aware of the importance of maintaining my good health in a more conscious way. At the core of the book is the sense of Dr. Mark's genuine interest in her patients' and, in this case, readers' well-being. She brought the medical world closer to me.

I hightly recommend Stellar Medicine to women of all ages and various backgrounds.
